PARTICIPANTS SAID:

  • “Jonas Westring is an inspiring teacher who’s knowledge consistently shines through in his teachings. His attention to awareness and alignment of the body as well as the integration of Yogic philosophy was always present. I learned so much more about my own body and how to work with my students. I would recommend him to any person who is interested in Yoga whether a beginner or an advanced student!”

  • “I really enjoy Jonas’ clear teaching style that makes anatomy easily understandable and I now know much more about students movements and limitations and adjusting according to unique body types. I also love the hands-on adjustment and Thai Yoga Therapy infused by Jonas’ inspiring teachings. I enjoyed the early morning sadhana by Kim, new beautiful friendships and good healthy food that built my energy and gave clarity of mind. Thank you!”
    Thuy Le, Vietnam [Module I]
  • “3 Modules is too long! – is the first thought in my mind when I decided to join the training, but on the last day I felt that it’s not enough and everyone felt the same way. The 1st module Jonas gave us clarity of anatomy to improve alignment and avoid injury. In module 2 Carlos told us the history and philosophy of yoga in a most amazing way. The last module opened our eyes through Ayurveda that plays an important role in yoga practice and in living a healthy, balanced life. After the 3 modules ended I feel like a different person and really understand how to be HEALTHY in this precious body all the way to the age of 90 or even 100.”
    Carin Lim, Indonesia [300-hours]
  • “I attended the part of the 300-hour training which focused mainly on inner yoga (meditation and philosophy). The venue was very peaceful and conducive for study and practice. Each day was well planned with enough free time for students to assimilate and digest the teachings. I highly recommend this module and would have been happy to participate in the other 2 modules if time had allowed…maybe this year!”
    Andy Willner, Hongkong/UK [Module II]
  • “This is a real retreat! I loved the peace; a life of no rush and pressure; to be in the silent surroundings. All the practices and meditations were a true blessing. Thank you Jonas and Kim so much for giving me that chance to be a part of an incredible, the unforgettable experience!”

MODULE 3: YOGA AYURVEDA
Using Ayurveda to Enhance your Life, Practice, and Teaching
Nov 29-Dec 11, 2018 (100 hours)
Main Faculty: Balaram Chandra
Supported by Team Shantaya

In this 100-hour course on Yoga Ayurveda, Balaram Chandra introduces a wide range of Ayurvedic principles and practices while placing them into context of our daily patterns and lifestyle.

Ayurveda आयुर्वेद  is not a new or old system to be implemented but a “Vision”(veda) of the simple patterns in “Life” (ayu) which are already present. Yoga is a dynamic system which Ayurveda utilizes as a means to enhance health, maintain health, or to bring oneself into balance by using easily available means, such as:

  • The Body – all of it’s parts and functions
  • The Breath – functions and supports of Vayu (air) and Prana
  • The Mind – all of it’s parts and functions (chitta)
  • The Soul – Awareness/Consciousness
  • All encompassing Spirit/Divinity and all of it’s parts and functions

It is possible to predict, observe, and reflect upon the influences of all experienced substances and all actions expressed. The intelligent person accepts that everything is influencing and will influence all aspects of your life, whether it is immediately perceivable or not. All parts of your Body, your Mind, and your Behavior are affected and may or may not assist in the balancing of various needs of life and the achievement of desires. We seek to develop understanding of and mastery of all gross and subtle substance and functions of the Human body through the Yoga Tradition and Ayurveda. The goal of Ayurveda is to be established in Swastha (health).

  • Ayurveda Foundations in Theory & Practice
Daily Yoga Sadhana (complete practice), Lecture and Practicum
  • Sankhya Darshan
An in-depth overview of the traditional Vedic perspective of the universal parts (tattvas) that come together to provide the human experience within subtle (psychology) and gross (physical) bodies.
  • Guna, Element & Dosha Theory
Specific elaboration on the utilization of substance and actions to effectively balance health, and successfully live an outstanding life full of enthusiasm, satisfaction and joy.
  • Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Asana, Pranayama & Meditation
Using traditional yoga techniques we will immerse in a detailed exploration of how to adjust and stabilize the elements within the Body and Mind, Seek and discover what Prana functionally is, and sharpen Awareness and all of it’s evolutes within Chitta for the purpose of Health and greater Goal Achievement.
  • Dinacharya
Daily Self Care Routine for Yoga Teachers to maintain health and support recovery from any imbalance, illness or disease. You will receive a variety of products and techniques to take home for continued practice of Ayurvedic Daily Self Care Routines.

BALARAM CHANDRA DAS
was born into a family of soft-hearted Native American and Mexican farm workers. Inner strength through struggle and seeking love in all things were his caring parents. He found new vibrance in life once he heard the voice and conversation of Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita. Like brush in a wildfire he was consumed by the vast wisdom of the Vedic vision of life and the cultural practices of Yoga and Ayurveda. These arts enticed him to spend the next 8 years immersed in monastic living and spiritual practice. Currently, unrestricted by form, his study continues to find no end while sharing whatever fresh and ripe fruits he has with anyone who comes close, is feeling hunger, or desires to taste new things. Balarama Chandra currently focuses his professional practice on Ayurvedic Psychology and Habit Reformation through positive expression and the simple means of yoga, breath, and diet. He loves facilitating the conversation of self transformation and dharma via international educational trainings, retreats, and personal counseling. Balarama is a true pleasure to study with as he has the dynamic ability to make the seemingly complicated – practical, humorous and exciting.
