The roots of the science of Ayurveda originated in India 5,000 years ago. For much of its history Ayurveda knowledge was passed down through oral tradition. Later, it was recorded in the ancient classical texts known as “The Vedas,” to convey medical knowledge to physicians as well as to teach the people how to live in harmony with the natural world around them.

Ayurveda explains that when the body is out of balance due to certain lifestyle, environmental and dietary factors, it becomes susceptible to disease. Ayurveda therefore places emphasis on prevention and alleviation of disease through diet and lifestyle requirements. It offers a complete way of life which supports the individual’s health at all levels: the body, mind, spirit, and consciousness.

One of the main goals of Ayurveda is to teach people how they can take charge of their life and health to alleviate and prevent health symptoms.
