YOGA THERAPEUTICS is an expansive broad topic, full of possibility to curate a yoga experience that brings about healing, expansion, connection and peace – things that makes human life worth living 🙂
- Yoga-as-Therapy is capable of addressing many problems of the body-mind complex, using therapeutic techniques from the yoga tradition while incorporating protocols from other movement disciplines, wholistic therapies and manual hands-on techniques.
- Knowledge of Human Anatomy & Biomechanics is essential to create strategies that re-align the body and heal imbalances. Various issues arise from our entire life history, misalignments, stress, habits and tendencies – leading to aches, pains and suffering – impairing quality of life.
- In order to tap into the body’s own intuitive process for healing we also work with Prana, the life-breath that permeates our being. Adjusting the physical body into optimal alignment supports the Pranic Flow, then asana becomes an opportunity for optimal circulation and healing.
- Proper body-alignment is essentially therapeutic. In any Group Class each pose has the potential to be therapeutic if well applied, while Private Yoga Therapy sessions give more time to assess an individual’s needs and implement targeted exercises to support them in building strength, openness, balance and resilience in a way that is personalised.
- It’s important to be able to observe if a persons practice is contributing to their overall Health & Well-Being. We need to support those who have injuries and limitations so that they feel empowered in their practice and help guide them through the healing process.
- In this Immersion we investigate techniques for addressing common misalignments, injuries and chronic bio-mechanical conditions. We use yoga props when effective and study both structural and functional anatomy. In addition to yoga asana and therapeutic techniques we practice pranayama, meditation and sound healing/chanting.
- When applying the Therapeutic Techniques in our own body we directly experience their power and understand their effects. From that authentic place we are better equipped to practice for health, balance and longevity – and teach from a place of integrity.
